I'm trying to find what the markings, if any, on arsenal packs issued to CS Missouri troops look like.
I'm familiar with the St. Louis Arsenal stamp on arsenal packs issued to US troops and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a stamp or label used by the Liberty Arsenal or any other sources of munitions used by Missourians.
Secessionists siezed about 400,000 rounds from Liberty Arsenal in the first two weeks of the war but these couldn't have lasted very long. I checked a few sources trying to find out whether Confederates retained control of the arsenal for any amount of time and found nothing conclusive. My impression is that production of ammunition didn't continue there after its siezure. Were subsequent arsenal packs marked? And if so does anyone have an image?
Thanks,
