IPW French tour question

French guy's arrive Thursday, March 5th after noon to Houston, we thus have 3 days to go to Natchitoches (that should be possible even for French):tounge_sm.
Here is my question, we would like to visit a little part of Texas in road, the last time we had visited the South of the Louisiana, which is there of interesting to visit (museums, curiosities, landscape, NASA, Bar, etc.) ?

I fear Fort McKavett is a little TOO far west for you! LOL! The Civil War Museum in Fort Worth is nice, but ALSO in the opposite direction.

The only suggestion of going from H-Town to LA is to hit the Sabine Pass battlefield...BUT I have no idea what's open since Hurrican IKE did more damage than Ike Turner!!!

It would be quite a drive, but you might consider Pea Ridge in northern Arkansas, and then Wilson's Creek isn't far from there on the Missouri side. The Steamboat Arabia museum is about 3 hours from Wilson's Creek then as well.

May I suggest Ft. St. John Baptist here in Natchitoches. It is a 1750s fully recreated French Frontier fort. Best part about it....i'm one of the French Marines that work in the fort!!! There are also many different plantations down Cane River that are pretty cool. Heck, i can give you a world class tour of Natchitoches if I can get off for long enough!

It's way out of the way, but Vicksburg is worth the trip. You can read about it all you want. You don't begin to understand why it was such a tough nut to crack until you see it and walk it. Then, you're hooked. Routing through Jackson, Mississippi, will make the sojourn a little easier.
