  • Camp Moore..help us out

The weekend before Thanksgiving, we (the 16th Louisiana Infantry) are going to have an Authentic Company at Camp Moore. We aint going to have nothing but a good time. If any of you can come to the event and want to have a good time ...come join us. In the past it has been a good way to close out a good year, drink a few beers a few bottles of wine and eat some good Cajun food...we are there. We will do the "authentic-gig"...cum se sum sa, but I promise you it is a good time to plan for the next year, and close out a good season.

It is just south of the Mississippi / Louisiana state line south on I-55 south at Kentwood. About two hours north of New Orleans, and about two hours south of Jackson, Mississippi.

Brett, school should be out for Thanksgiving by then. NO?

As Edwin stated, Camp Moore does not get any State or Federal funding through out the year, so this is their big fund raiser for their operating expenses. Needless to say it for a good cause and as Dale said, come pass a good time. ALso, Pelican Civil War Lodge #1861 F&AM will have a called meeting on Saturday night at 7pm. It is open to all Master Masons. As in the past once we get our business taken care of we will open Lodge in the EA Degree for all Brothers to attend.

I can make no promises at this point, but I would love to make this event. I will be in touch if I can get someone to cover for me at work. But meeting more of you fine folks and cajun food is a strong draw to me. :)

The above link did not work for me, but I did find this site: http://www.nps.gov/history/nr/travel/louisiana/cam.htm

Scenerio: Eat some good Cajun food, drink some beer, go fight two mock battles, raise money for Camp Moore.

Really this is not an Authentic Event, we aint even trying. We are just trying to raise money.

BUT I promise you, you'll have a good time.

I'm glad somebody will be cooking lunch. I hope I will be too busy making wet-plate images to fix a meal Saturday.

Well you need feds or rebs, I would rather go reb, it is mighty tempting and I can go to New Orleans, for a spell, never been there. Sounds like a good cause anyone from the Indy area going? Let me know.

                      Try this link.
