Don't make me show you the number of identified, provenanced Mexican War knapsacks, early war Federal copies of Mex. War knapsacks, single bag knapsacks, rubberized knapsacks, and unpainted linen canvas knapsacks that I saw up close at the John Henry Kurtz collection auction on Friday. When I say "identified" I mean to Federal soldiers.

And about half the canteens I saw were covered with sky or dark blue jean or kersey. Oh, and there was also a vibrant blue Federal issue blanket too.
