    Darkest Days & Finest Hours

    Hi,

    I just got done watching LionHeart's film Gettysburg (Darkest Days & Finest Hours), and I was very pleased by it. The film was very well done, and while most of it was filmed at 145th Gettysburg event (mainstream), the closeup scense where done by, what appeared to me, as a campaign unit. If I am not mistaken, the unit was the Liberty Rifles. The guys at LionHeart did a excellent job on this film, and I look forward to seeing what films they will make in the future. Thanks

    You thought it was good? I hope so...I went to Gettysburg with my mainstream unit and ordered a copy.

    Shows a lot of action I hope?!

      I actually disliked this movie compared to the director's earlier works, such as Wicked Springs. I was there for the campaigner portion of the movie shoot but they ended up making the bulk of the movie out of the 145th reenactment footage and broadened the focus from distinct regiments to the entire battle.

        I actually just finished watching my copy, and if you keep in mind the fact that this was made mainly for the people at the mainstream event as a sort of keepsake, not bad. The individual unit vinettes were pretty good.

          I have to say I was not all that impressed. There were some scenes that were very shaky and looked as if my 3-year old nephew filmed it.

              Hallo!

              One man's meat is another man's poison.

              Meaning, we all have different expectations, likes and dislikes, and opinions about the same TV shows, films, or movies we see.

              It sounds to me, like this latest effort resurrects the "format" of the "Classic Images" series of battle "documentaries" from the 125th Anniversary events that combined "history" with reenactment footage with segments of staged scenes and "firper interviews."

              IMHO, these type of postings usually always end up with "Loved it." "Hated it." or shrug of the shoulders indifference (sometimes followed by Flame Wars depending upon the board/fora). ;) :)

                  I actually enjoyed it. There WAS some shakiness to some of the film spots. I loved seeing myself and my son crossing the wall on the last day.

                  As for the event itself.. it was so so... it just didn't measure up to the 135th in my opinion.
