  • Fluffy Post - Egg Beater

Just for fun. If this is too fluffy for this forum, please just delete.

Most very young children take things very literally. My six-year-old son has literalitis to the power of ten. While on a walk with him last week, we somehow got on the subject of the Civil War. I explained to him in extremely general terms things like secession, the war itself, and the ultimate Northern victory.

"So, in the end, the soldiers from the Southern states were beaten by the soldiers from the Northern states, and the..."

"Daddy, did you say the Southern (he pronounces it "sow-thern" because he maintains his ground that words should be pronounced exactly as spelled) soldiers were beaten?

    "Yes."

"Well, I think the Sow-thern soldiers should have taken away their beater!"

This remark puzzled me, until after further probing I realized that he was imagining the Confederates being placed into a big bowl and beaten with a wire wisk as one would beat an egg.
