Nuckolls canteen repair help

I picked up a Nuckolls used about a year ago and since that time it has cracked across the side of the canteen from one nail to the other. Is there any professional that could possibly save this canteen or is it a lost cause?

Ronald, I did not see a reason for posting an image of a split side of a canteen. The crack runs from side to side of the canteen, across what I would call the spine of the canteen and not the face.
