    Tom, et al,
I'll be making my first trip to the meeting this weekend as a new member. I look forward to meeting you as well as others from the campaigning community.

Re: Question??? Company of Military Historians

At the annual conference in Albany, John Rees, mentioned above by Matt White, brought out his display of army chow. Thankfully no samples were offered but when I told him about the meatless lasagne that I had displayed in my office, he told me that that particular dish is quite popular with the troops. It's better than lima beans and m-f.

The Virginia State War Museum also brought out three zouave jackets.

        Chestbeating time

I've been told that the latest issue of The Company of Military Historians' journal has my article, Confederate Sharpshooter Selection, in it. Being here on the West Coast, I haven't seen that issue yet (It's never been the same after the Pony Express stopped). Anyway, the article discusses the numerous methods that the Confederates resorted to to fill the ranks. Discard any preconceived notions or anything else you may have read and please, don't throw bricks, bottles or any other hard objects. It's fully endnoted so my references may be verified.

Please gwine the Company and be on the leading edge of research.

Member for thirty-some years. Networking with other members on my special interests (ironically, military firearms and field gear) has been useful. A high point of my calendar quarter is receiving the journal...but at my age, rather devoid of other high points as it is, that might not be considered an endorsement.
