If anyone wishes to check it out our website is here: http://provincialnavy.50megs.com/

There are some people who do naval impressions down here in Florida. However, most of them haven't "come to the dark side" yet if you know what I'm saying. There are a few quality impressions down here but they are rare.

If you know its not Civil War, then why are you posting it here? This doesn't belong in this forum; I suggest you take this to the "other forums." It doesn't belong here. Stuff like this causes a stink and gets yourself resported to the moderators.

        Re: Navy Re-enacting

        Hallo Kameraden!

This has drifted off-CW topic in places. Please continue your discussion off-forum, or by e-mail if you would.

Secondly, not to diminish the contributions on both sides to the War effort by naval "landing parties" and "sailors" such as those US and Marines that attacked Fort Fisher in January 1865, or those CS defending Drewry's Bluff in 1865- and not to diminish the personal efforts of anyone seriously recreating them-
But, such "specialty impressions" (without knowing more about those impressions and units) can quickly fall into poor quality and worse yet, inappropriate venues and settings (such as naval landing parties at Shiloh, etc).
As with any "specialty impression," they can be done authentically and battle appropriately just as well as any "infantry" impression.
However, in my years of experience, I have yet to see anyone or any unit, and the ones I have seen were made up of lads rapidly back-peddling and fleeing from the strict and harsh requirements of Mainstream life.

Again, to the exceptions out there, I offer no insult or negatives, and applaud any and all serious efforts.

However, this thread has run its course, and I am closing it.
