This concert is free and open to the public.
The Bach Children's Chorus is western New York's most respected
children's classical music ensemble. Their repertoire consists
of classical and folk music in many languages from the 18th
through the 21st centuries. The chorus appears regularly with
the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester Chamber
Orchestra, Mercury Opera Rochester, and other area ensembles.
The girls and boys in the group range in age from 8 to 16.The
BCC was founded by its current director, Karla Krogstad, in
1989. Over 1,300 students have sung in the BCC. Website

The concert will run about 1/2 hour.
Baritone Derrick Smith has sung with distinction in concert
halls and theaters around the world. Most recently, Smith made
his debut at the Chautauqua Institute singing with the
Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy.
Currently, Smith is working on a CD of Civil War music, which
includes several of the selections he is singing in this
concert, as well as emancipation spirituals, songs of the Union,
and music connected with Frederick Douglass. For a complete bio,

Presented with support from the Pennsylvania Abraham Lincoln
Bicentennial Commission with headquarters at the Civil War
Institute at Gettysburg College. The purpose of the PA ALBC is
to organize, arrange, and coordinate bicentennial tributes to
Abraham Lincoln in Pennsylvania, and to coordinate those
activities with the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission of
the federal government and other interested parties.
The concert will be presented at the Museum and Visitor Center
at Gettysburg National Military Park through cooperation with
the Gettysburg Foundation. The Foundation is the nonprofit
partner of the National Park Service at Gettysburg and operates
the Museum and Visitor Center. For more information about the
