    Somewhat belatedly commenting, but the Picketts Mill Mr. Muehleisen mentioned was the best system I saw. As a company commander I didn't know for a couple hours if men were just seperated or lost and it better represented the "luck" factor which seems much more unit than individual. One company may take 15 casualties while the one beside it is barely scratched. In fairness it had the advantage of representing a micro portion of a real action which would be difficult to replicate in a much larger (and more generic) mainstream event.

    I also agree strongly with the esteemed Mr. Smotherman's comment: "There are casualties and there is decimation. We tend to portray decimation."
