Re: P/C/H Units attending mainstream events

    So it's now p/c/h not c/p/h? How about h/c/p or let's buy a vowel Pat, go C/h/a/p campaigner/hardcore/authentic/progressive or c/h/i/p "independent" or how about c/h/u/m/p campaigner/hardcore/ugly/mainstream/progressive?

I wish once and for all you adopt a industry standard on acronyms and list them all under an established glossary. We need more acronyms!

Well, it can't be h/c/p. Looks too much like it would be pronounced "hiccup." :tounge_sm

I like C/H/P. That way we can drop the slashes, add an "i" and become CHiPs, as in the late '70s early '80s television show about the motorcycle cop exploits of "Ponch" and "John."

Excellent posts all the way around. I may steal a few of ya'all sayings. I feel too many folks on both sides of the fence have too many misconceptions. Too bad we cant have a discussion with them to show our true feelings and not point fingers and bicker. We are all pretty much here for the same reason basically the love of the Civil War. Its just the direction, scope, and depth that some have that others dont.
However......nothing get my panties in a knot anymore than to be sleeping on the ground and doing it right and have someone else walk by smoking a winston, eating a funnel cake and bad mouth me. Then If we march off further into the wilderness to avoid them we are snobs.

Re: P/C/H Units attending mainstream events

I'm in a campaign group, atleast after Memorial Day, and most if not all the other units are also campaigners. Therefore I've very rarley seen a mainstream Confederate group. It just seems in my area there's two reenacting choices: Campaign and Yankee. But I do agree that campaigners should attend mainstream groups in order to encourage and impress them to upgrade thier impressions. This could also lead to more and more authentic events as the campaigning interest increaes

Re: P/C/H Units attending mainstream events

That was a great post. If the p/c/h community is going to try to change
reenacting for the better, the best way to do it is to talk to those less
authentic. Maybe -just maybe one of them will see the error of their ways,
and the cycle re- starts. They push for authenticity, and then try to teach
others the right way, like was done to him. The reenacting community will
never change unless we do that.

Re: P/C/H Units attending mainstream events

The unit I belong to sees nothing wrong with attending mainstream events, we actually attend several over the years. Not only does this give us a little more to do we also look at it as an opportunity. An opportunity to show mainstreamers the "light." We were at a mainstream event back about a year ago where we had this visitor and his family stop off to talk to us, before he left us, he wanted us to know that we really looked like Civil War soldiers. If this guy saw that I would hope that the mainstreamers would see it as well. We have yet to have any conversions, but there is always that chance. Not to mention it's really cool to be different and stared at, it makes you feel special.
