  • m1841 Rifle made by Kurkendall

I was examining a M1841 rifle the other day and it had Kurkendall (sp) stamped on the sideplate and twice on the stock. Can anyone tell me anything about this firm?

    Hallo!

Might that be "Robbins, Kendall, and Lawrence."

M1841's were made under contract by the Palmetto Armory, Remington, RK&L and their successor Robbins & Lawrence, Tyron, and Whitney.

    Aside from that...

The stampings migth be later "spurious" additions and not related to the proper markings from these actual makers (as those locations are NOT where the makers placed their stamps).
