    Dear Sirs,
In case you haven't heard Curt Schmidt had a heart attack this past Tuesday while on his English riding lessons. As of today he is in stable condition at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland ,Ohio. According to his good wife Karen it was a very close call.

        Re: Curt Schmidt

I wasn't sure where to post this info. I wanted to let all the guys he gets involved with ,behind the scenes, know. Please let the moderators and others that do such a good job know. I took it upon myself to share this info. I probably should have shared with all members since Curt has touched all of us one way or another. Please advise or feel free to have someone of authority share the info? Thanks!

            Hi All!

Strange to see a thread in one's own name. :)

A personal thanks for all of the kind thoughts and concerns.

Lo there, do I not see my father.
Lo there, do I not see...
My mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo there, do I not see...
The line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo, they do not call to me.
They do not yet bid me take my place among them.

Not all coronary events are heart attacks, although they resemble them.

If I can explain this simply, my conditioned heart has a slower than normal rate (a long QT Interval named after the parts of an EGK wave where the heart builds the bio-electricity for the next firing.)
I was three days into a new prescription that unknowingly acted as a toxin, extending the recharge QT to the point the heart quivers but does not pump.
Unconsciousness follows in less than ten seconds.
Brain damage and death follows several minutes later.

Thanks to persistent EMS/Life Support Team who with no pulse did not give up at the 4th or 5th failed "shock" and max joule setting because I can do only so much myself.

(I was out riding at the time, which makes for a "died with his boots on" story. But the better part is that while they cut off my clothes, they spared my custom boots...)

Oh.. the future. Stop taking the toxic pill solves the problem.

            Thanks again to everyone. Appreciatively,

            Curt

I expect the condition was caused by too much inhalation of gun oil and the excessive mental analysis of period and reproduction firearms... brain made a minor mistake in neural routing when he was comparing two similar weapons.

Glad the heart and brain woke up.

I don't post on here very often but log on on every day if I can. Even though many of us never meet beyond our 'online world', sometimes people feel 'familiar' through our shared interests etc. I am an admirer of Mr Schmidt's knowledge and very pleasant manner and was just starting to think I'd hadn't seen one of his posts too recently - now we know. It's a shock, but also a great relief at the same time. Mr Schmidt - from the description of your ordeal it seems you are also a very 'cool customer' who has taken this in your stride. Hat's off to you sir!

                              Best regards
