Herr Schmidt, I agree with Pete.....too many times have we pumped chests and defibrillated folks who did not return. I am very happy to hear that you are still among us.

          Curt,

You do not know me from Adam, but I have enjoyed your wit and wisdom on this forum for years. I am so glad you survived and recovering well. Take care of yourself.

            Hallo!

Many THANKS for the postings, well wishes, kind thoughts and words, and even "Get Well" cards!!

Being a miracle, I am fine and doing well.

Although the broken ribs have slowed me down a bit, and a cough or sneeze is a very interesting experience.

(Today I go to get my broken-off front teeth restored.)

              Curt,
Others have already stated, more eloquently than I could (in both of the languages I might have employed), our relief and hopes for a quick recovery. I will merely add my "ditto" to the chorus.

                  Curt:

You know your not an expert rider until you've fallen off 10 times don't you? How many are you up to?

I gave up English riding when they told me I was too big to jump your average horse. It was very patiently explained to me that at my weight if I unbalanced the horse we were both going rump over tea-kettle.

Maybe you should join me on the Western/Australian stock pleasure circuit or better yet come by my place and I'll teach you how to drive horses. It is much more relaxing and I have yet to fall off a wagon or cart.

And yes by the way I've got my 10 spills in. Notched up number 10 about 12 years ago.

                    Hallo!

Don't make a lad with broken ribs laugh! ;) :)

My theory was that if I learned to ride "English" (on that leather pad they call a back saddle), or Hunt, I could improve and enhance my limited equestrian "Western" skills or even on a McClellan.

Hmmmmm. Ten falls is better than the fifty (50) I was told it takes to be a "rider."

I am only at three. But I am not sure this last one counts as I was unconscious at the time.

                    :)

I have been eyeing up those Australian saddles, though... ;)

                          Sorry to make you laugh.

If I had been told 50 falls I never would have gotten up on one. Now your making me wonder if I've got 40 to go! :o

And yes they ALL count, even the unconscious ones. I think you got the better of the deal on that one though. I've never been knocked out falling off a horse all my falls have hurt from the word go at least you slept through the first couple of minutes of this one.

Let me tell you, my Aussie saddle was the best investment I ever made for riding a horse. Allows long legs like a western (I can't post worth a lick and it sometimes my knees bother me when I try to say nothing of how the horse feels about his back) yet you have a nice comfy seat like an English.
