    Not a surprise, but interesting...

A vintage engraved view titled "Emancipated Slaves, White and Colored - The Children are from the Schools established in New Orleans, by Order of Major General Banks" published in Harper's Weekly and dated January 30, 1864. Each of the individuals is identified by name. Shown are Wilson Chin, Charles taylor, Augusta Broujey, Mary Johnson, Isaac White, Rebecca Huger, Roberty Whitehead, and Rosina Downs. Related text which describes each of these children and in some cases names their white slave owner fathers included.

    Any thoughts...

The "white" slaves are most likely "Yellow" or "High Yellow".

Which are vernacular terms for mulatto or mixed.
