Re: 30th VA Flag on ebay
All I know is that if Fonda Thomson hasn't looked at it I wouldn't touch it. I recently viewed a similar flag at the SC State Museum and came to the conclusion that it was a post-war piece. Just because a flag is made with "loose bunting" doesn;t necessarily mean it's war-time. Just my opinions; I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

Re: 30th VA Flag on ebay
Greetings,
The short answer is NOPE. It's a fake through and through. I was discussing this earlier with noted flag researcher Howard M. Madaus and it's a typical eBay "dog." To add insult to injury, the seller has added fake "testimonials" on his page regarding its alleged authenticity. Watch for those "one-sided Confederate battleflags"--I've lost count when it comes to how many have actually appeared. I think the last one I saw was supposedly "ID'd" to the 11th Arkansas.
A few bonafide flags have actually appeared on eBay but the overwhelming majority of those offered are as legitimate as "pieces of the True Cross" or "Babe Ruth signature" baseballs.

Re: 30th VA Flag on ebay
My vote would be a big no. Where are the stays? What would be the purpose of the flag? Where is the provenance? What he has is rumor.
The more this guy defends the piece with vauge references to dealers, historians and emails, he makes the stench even greater. He was probably burned, now it is time to hit a new sucker.
Why not visit a Rebecca Rose (Museum of the Confederacy) or someone else of prominence? Until then my money stays in my money market, earning 1%.Ley Watson

Thanks guys, just as I suspected, just thought I would see if everyone else opinions was similar.
Ley,
Consumers confidence was down last month, but the economy is improving and a money market fund is no place to have your money if you want to buy a real confederate flag sometime in the future.Dane Utter

Re: 30th VA Flag on ebay
One thing I thought was unusual was the size of the flag: It certainly isn't the size or design for regimental colors (24" x 31"), but it seemed larger than any marker flags I had heard of eitherTom Smith, 2nd Lt. T.E.
