  • period Barlow Knives

Comrades, Searching through the files and the internet I did not really find the answer. I am searching for pictures of original period Barlow Knives, the ones with the long bolster, to find out their shape( espescially the blade and if 1 or 2 blades).
I have seen the nice picture of the knives excavated from the Arabia but otherwise have no pics of these knives that show the blade. If anybody has information about mid 1860 Barlow knives or even better originals either excavated or non excavated artifact I was more than happy to get those infos.

    Thank you very much.

Are you looking to have a reproduction made? Just curious because I had a master knifemaker reproduce a Cairo rigging knife last year. Very expensive, but a work of art when done by a master.

      Jan,

I hope you are well. Contact Dan Houde of Orchard Hill Sutlery (I think the business may be closed). But he has originals and reproduces period pocket knives. Search on the forum and you'll find him. He's very knowledgeable.

Thanks Matt!. And yes I will have them rproduced. I have samples from a firm that has made one with bone handle and one with wooden grips. But this is like the standard Barlwo Knife as mostly seen nowadays, with large and small blade. The steel parts are carbon steel. The quality is good, absolutely correct for this style of knife and the price won't hurt anybody.
