  • M1816/1822 cone threading

    All-

I am in the process of restoring an M1816 Type II (M1822) cone-in-barrel conversion, Springfield lock dated 1825. At some point in the past the cone has been removed, and the threading in the cone is negligible at best. After using the search function and the google, I am unable to find the correct thread size for said beast. Can anyone tell me what the correct cone/thread size for the musket?

    Thanks in advance.

Mods, please move if this is in the wrong section.

    Try 5/16 X 24 bottoming tap.

Reference photos of my 1822, if anyone is interested. Not bragging, just wanting to put the pictures out there in case anyone was interested.

I'm curious: are there any traces of rifling in the barrel?

          Thanks,

Nope. A bore light reveals traces of the barrel seam, but no rifling.

Thanks. The Ohio surcharge made me wonder if it was one of those elusive Greenwood muskets.
