  • My new smoke pole

OK... maybe you were expecting something different!

I picked up this clay bowl at an antique show a few weeks ago and a friend put the cherry stem on it.

I've also included a "family pic":
Crossed Pipes are a Ubben replica of a pipe found on the "Bertrand" and a Boswell briar.

    Enjoy!

I think the bowl was about $20.

The same seller had a huge eagle claw gutta percha pipe for about $250.

Very nice, You inspired me to snap a photo of my favorites. If you don't mind me asking, what does your friend charge to make stems like that?

Its more of a barter system. He needs things; I need things... ;)

I enjoy my pipes about as much as I do my muskets.

And that matchsafe is something else. Old Glory is a beauty; I couldn't resist getting one when I saw it for sale.

Ha Ha! Be that way. :angry_smi:wink_smil
It's nice to have friends with talents like that, that is for sure.
I am not trying to steal your thread, please forgive me. Here is a pic of my favorites, an Old tavern pipe with a meershaum bowl and another meershaum with a carved dog on it. They are both pretty old, but smoke so nice.

John, What do you think of a Tobacciana subforum? I know the social group has been established, but it seems kind of dead in there. Just an idea, thought I would suggest it.

Huck: I got those from Speedy at Perryville, many moons ago. He does a great job!

Lindsey: Another Perryville pick-up from early last decade.

Pete: Not trying to be cagey... the maker just isn't a vendor, so I didn't want to throw his name around on-line.
Nice "family pic"! I respect my fellow tobacco afficiados!

I would have to echo Pete's suggestion about the "Tobacciana subforum" being a great idea!!

The use, growth and sale of tobacco was such a prevalent part of the 19th century that I believe it to be very much in order and would be much used.

                      Just my two cents.......

Did you make the stem or did you buy it?
                        Thanks,
