  • SCAR 2011 Event Schedule

Here is the official max. effort event schedule for SCAR (SE Coalition of Authentic Reenactors) for 2011. If you have any questions please check out the webpage at www.scarreenactors.com

    SCAR 2011 MAX. EFFORT SCHEDULE
To Prevent the Effusion of Blood - January 7-9, 2011 - MAX. EFFORT event (was voted for in 2009) - Take part in the FIRST 150th anniversary event. Hosted by the Tramp Brigade (SCAR member group), this will be a unique event taking par at Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter in Charleston, SC. Please register asap as registration is closing soon and space is limited. Event webpage at: http://topreventtheeffusionofblood.com/ Impression: Federal Artillery or Infantry/Civilian.

Guarding Savannah - March 2-6, 2011 - Fort MacAllister, GA - Impression: Confederate Webpage: http://www.armoryguards.org/mcallister2011/
Semi-immersion event hosted by the Armory Guards. Simulating garrison life at the fort. It is always a good time at Fort Mac!
The event itself lends to a highly immersive experience for those who are seeking an “extended event” within a very historically rich area. The fort itself lies within the Georgia State Park System. In the early part of the 20th century the fort was rebuilt under the direction of Henry Ford and the CCC at different time periods. Today it is an outstanding “playground” for living historians. From the rebuilt officer’s quarters, to the functional hot shot furnace and blacksmith’s shop, and on to the reconstructed powder magazine the fort lends itself to timeframe of the Civil War. The center piece of the earthen fort (which is actually in the direct center of the fort’s bastion) is the bomb proof that can hold 44 men in bunks, a fireplace, and a common area near the back wall.

Battle of Resaca - May 20-22, 2011 - Resaca, GA - Impression: Federal Webpage: http://www.georgiadivision.org/bor_reenactment.html
SCAR Federal adjunct company. More info to come.

150th Anniversary Battle of First Manasses July 23-24, 2011 - Prince William Cty, VA
    webpage: http://www.visitpwc.com/civilwaesesquicentennial.html
Federal 150th annivesary celebrations=. Some of us plan to be part of Pete Berezuks 69th NY company. The impression is easy as it is sky blue trousers and a gray or red flannel shirt (no jacket), forage cap or kepi with a havelock. Pete's group made up of mostly firemen and ex-military should bring justice to the regiment!

Harris Homestead - late Sept 23-25th, 2011 - GA / early war Confederate muster - Armory Guards host:
Lewis Robinson and Kiev Thomason have planned a great early-war Confederate company muster. We are portraying Company H of the 11th Georgia Infantry. Herb Coats has company command and Kiev Thomason will be the master of the commissary. We will be conducting company level drill along with School of the Soldier, School of the Company, and Skirmish Drill. (With a little early war confusion added!) This is the event to bring your A-frame tents and set up along the company street. The event “feel” is similar to the “Return to the Ranks” event from 2005. Robby Mitchell has compiled some GREAT research regarding this company. The basic kit guidelines are civilian clothing or gray military frock coats. Kepis or slouch hats with black pre war or early war accouterments only! Bring your smoothbore musket! Bring your flintlock musket! If you do not have either of these a proper rifle musket is fine. This is the event to “stump” for an NCO position too!! Step up and deliver a Fire Breathing Secessery Speech! This is going to be a great early fall event!!!!

1861 - Perilous times in South Union, KY - Oct 21-23, 2011 Impression: Confederate Infantry / Civilian
The WIG is hosting an event at the Shaker Museum at South Union, Kentucky which will recreate the well documented movements and actions of the early Confederate forces that moved through this area from August to December 1861. We will be portraying Confederate infantry and cavalry forces. Civilians will be an important part of this event to bring the Shaker Village to life. We will need folks willing to portray Shakers. There will be some limited roles for non-shakers as well. As important as the Civilians are to the event, registration will be limited.

Other events we will also support as non-max. effort:
    Battle of Olustee - Feb 18-20, 2011 - Federal adjunct (host 48th NY - Ken Giddens) http://battleofolustee.org/reenactment.html
