If any of you live in the Memphis area I would make it a point to get to this...there are some awesome CW items that will probably go for a lot less than the retail market

Wonder how SHelby would feel about this though....

I trekked out to Memphis some years back to hear Shelby give a talk at Rhodes College as he neared his dottage. His passing was a shame. Reckon there's some good items at the estate sale.

I had no idea that he was a lepidopterist. Knowing how private of a person he was I doubt he would like this, but knowing how rare his signed books are I would be there in a heartbeat if I were closer than 2,000 miles away!

Don't feel to bad Dan - I have read on a couple of the sites where the Estate Dealer admits that there will be other estate lots within the sale - so not all of it is Shelby Foote's - the trick will be figuring out what is and what isn't.

Oh - and the butterflies were not his. It was somewhat of a sad ending to the end of an era.

None of them were his - they were consigned according to the estate firm - they were priced at market value - it was not an auction, the items were priced and away you went.
