    ILLINOIS, THE EARLY REGIMENTS, 1861-1862
    Class #0620606203 $15 ($10 FOM)
    Saturday, April 9 1:00-2:30 pm
    Instructor: Tom Arliskas LOCATION: CWM
In the first year of the Civil War, the federal government could
not supply its soldiers with the amount of uniforms and
equipment needed. Illinois, like the other states, stepped in to
equip volunteers. Author Tom Arliskas presents a collection of
notes and photos on the history, weapons, accoutrements,
and uniforms supplied to the 7th thru 22nd Illinois, with a
special presentation on the Illinois State Contract Jacket.

Hello, This is it! I will be conducting a class at the Kenosha Civil War Museum on April 9th, Saturday on the the early Illinois Regiments 7th thru 12th, notes on their clothing, uniforms, and accoutrements, and the next 10, 13th thru 22nd, with further notes on the 1st Illinois Cav., and and the early Artillery Regiments-- lots and lots of photos, and notes-- A special finish on the Illinois State "Contract Jacket" and what it is-- I started collecting notes on Illinois in the Civil War in 1974! so this is a lifetime of collecting being brought out for the 150th! I also would like my class participants to bring any notes or pictures they have of the Illinois State jacket or early photos to share with the other students. A lot of work has been done on the subject of the Illinois jacket for Illinois Living Historians and maybe we can put it all together in Kenosha. Hope to see you there-- seating is limited right now, but please call and register as early as possible. Go to the Kenosha Civil War Museum site for information.

    Tom,
If Illinois sends back the Wisconsin Democrats can Illinois people attend this meeting in Wisconsin?
Seriously, there is very little on the museum site about your workshop, just mentioned on a calendar. Will the staff be aware of the event?

        Tom,
There may be five of us coming up, two must clear with wifie. Looking forward to it, sans politics.

          Mr. Arliskas

I had a great time at the class today and have a new appreciation for the complexity of uniforms in early Illinois troops. I especially liked the information about regiments 7 thru 12. Maybe we can talk Tim Bender into making those grey "Hardee" hats with the red, white and blue cord. I look forward to the next class you might hold and the book you talked about.
