    does anyone know where i can find china buttons and/or fairly decent civilian buttons?

    Julia's Buttons is a good source http://www.wtv-zone.com/julia801/Site/ReEnact.html . Also ebay has plenty.

          My go-to guy for civilian buttons is Bill MacIntosh of Mac's Sutlery. You can find him at events in VA, MD, and PA. No website but he does have a Facebook page. He is also a civilian member of the Liberty Rifles. I just bought $48 worth of china buttons from him last month.

            A lady by name of Nancy Clancy in southern Iowa has an immense supply- might be worth tracking her down. She runs a small shop at several events in Iowa.
