Setting up a website

For those of you with experience working with unit websites, I was wondering if I could get some input re: a good source of free webspace for a unit website. My outfit currently has one with Tripod, but I wasn't the one who set it up or had to maintain it, so I don't know how easy they are to work with. The fellow who took care of the site isn't around any more and left without leaving anyone any of the necessary info to work on that site, so it's just kinda languishing there, not being updated or anything. I liked having a site for our outfit and thought I'd try setting up a new one. I don't have any experience with website design, and I'm working on a pretty narrow budget (read: no d__n money), so I'm looking for a provider of free space. Those of you who've done this kind of thing, any horror stories, 'these guys are great' stories, etc.? I'd appreciate it.

A lot of us have been there and to be honest there aren't a lot of good, free websites. You pretty much have to pay these days to get anything worth having. You might look at Geocities but like Tripod you're going to run into a bandwidth wall everytime more then a few users try to visit your website.

This is pretty much off-topic for this forum though - we're going through enough bandwidth on CW topics that we try to keep this sort of non-topic discussion off the forums. Good luck finding a new site - I'm sure those with ideas or suggestions will email you directly. Going to close this discussion due to the bandwidth issue and content.
