Notice the evidence of field alteration to the back of the trousers at the waistband. Looks like they were crudely "darted."

Yes, I noticed that as well. Apparently a field alteration to make an issued item fit a smaller waist. The dart was taken out considerably later judging by the fresh blue color revealed. Perhaps a collector restoration? It would have been better kharma leaving as-is.

Nice trou either way...something I can only dream of owning some day. I'll just have to content myself with handling those in museums and buying accurate reproductions.

Anyone catch the original Confed Slouch hat up for auction that was picked up near Culp's Hill after the. Battle of Gettysburg.....? That thing would be ridiculous to own....and its a ridiculous looking hat haha
