Gents,
I hope the title was attention grabbing but before someone who has been in the hobby for 5 years, read 2 books, and is a subject matter expert on the war responds please keep reading.
My brother and I are working on several small projects culminating in one large impression for 1st Manassas. Having tackled the large projects, the focus on the small ones has slipped our minds or been on the table too long and temporarily forgotten.
We are in need of a source for gold 3/8 inch flat trim, not yellow, not golden yellow but gold trim for use on VMI Cadet Chevrons. The modern chevrons do not conform in any way to period rank and need to be made to specially fit the period coatees being constructed. We've tried several sources including local fabric shops and several online sources but the promising sources are sold out or don't have a product that comes close.
I'm putting in a link to the best reproduction source we've found so people know what we are looking for and a link to a period VMI Cadet photograph that allows you to see what set of chevrons we're looking to reproduce. We appreciate any suggestions for sources for this trim!
We're not looking for offers from anyone to make them for us, just sources. Also, yes we know Wooded Hamlet/Needle and Thread is the #1 source but when we were there a couple of months ago they didn't have any trim in stock matching our needs.
Thank you very much in advance and I look forward to any intelligent replies!
