  • Federal issue Overcoat

    Gents,

Can anyone reccomend a vendor who makes quality overcoats? Seems the only person I can find is CJ Daley...good garments, just wondering if there is anyone else? Hopefully someone with a quick turnaound...

    Thanks,
    Zane

Other than Chris Daley I would recommend S&S Sutlery or Todd Morris of Morris & Company Historic Clothiers.

Also I would contact Chris Sullivan of Stony Brook Company. He often has high quality overcoats on consignment or can make museum grade overcoats to order.

        Wow. Two problems here.

Problem one : This is a who makes the best type of question :

Who makes the best _____________ ?

The most authentic vendors of various items come and go - so often that it's difficult to answer this question. The Authentic Campaigner website tries to maintain a stable of excellent vendors for you to choose from - you can find a full list of them here.

You'd be well-served to do a little looking around - ask your messmates. Whenever possible, compare the reproductions with originals - not other reproductions. Try to find reproductions that do not sacrifice in any of the most important three categories: Authentic materials, correct patterns, quality of construction.
        Here's the link : http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/...aq2#faq_faq110

I'm going to leave the thread open for now, but am going to close it before I call it a day.

        Problem two : signature violation

A cardinal rule of the forum is that members must sign their posts with their full names. To view the posting rules, follow the link below my signature. This moderator has reminded several people this week alone about this most basic rule of the forum. The kinder and gentler model of reminding people to sign their posts does not seem to be working well. The bulk of the violators tend to have ten or fewer posts on this forum. Don't be surprised if violators, especially those with ten or few posts, start receiving automatic infractions.
