  • Ballistics comparison between round ball and 7.62

I thought this was a pretty interesting video for several reasons. It shows the workings of an original Austrian caplock musket which is pretty neat and has some good ballistics info and comparison between a round ball that it fires and a 7.62X39 SKS round. It's about 16 minutes and is in a slavic language but does have English subtitles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyW_K...eature=related

That "tubelock" is a really interesting and weird priming system. Kind of cool. I recently did some similar comparison shooting. I fired the SKS with 7.62x39, the Mosin Nagant with 7.62x54, and the Armisport M1842 with .68 round ball and 110 grains FF. Sadly, I was about as good with the musket as I was with the rifles.
