Airports around Shiloh?? Boatride???

Hey Lads-

Still consumed in school but trying to make plans for Shiloh.... Due to distance/time I may need to look at flying into the event. I am on the boat list so not sure if that makes any difference. Any help and guidance is certainly appreciated.

Bro. Jay,

Memphis International is the closest commercial airport. It's 120 miles from Savannah, TN. Nashville International Airport is 3 hours away, however Nashville is a Southwest Airlines airport which may help with cost. And the I-40/I-65 corridor that intersects in Nashville will have alot of guys traveling it that you might be able to hop a ride with from the airport. Hope that helps a little.

Nashville aka BNA and Bushrod's National Airport is your best bet to get there from where you are. Two nights ago, I purchased seats for Southwest at $104 on the way in and Frontier at $129 on the way out from Seattle. (Southwest was $298 to return. No deal there.)

Ticket prices on Southwest were $104 last week, $191 over the weekend and $104 this week.

Don't forget to visit the Old City Cemetery in Nashville (next to Ft. Negley) and pay your respects Gen. Bushrod Johnson, the Hero of Chickamauga. Bushrod was a brigade commander at Shiloh. You'll also find the final resting places for Baldy Ewell and Zollicoffer.

Tupelo, MS also has commerical traffic but it would be cheaper to fly into Memphis and rent a vehicle.

I too am considering flying to this event. Although I don't think they will be able to put my horse in the luggage compartment.....but working on that too. My question is what have people done with their equipment on the flight? I have never flown to an event so not sure how to handle the saddle and not to mention the guns.

Saddle, equipment, uniform, etc. can go in a big tub(s), suitcase, or duffle bag. Guns and swords MUST be in a locked case and declared at check in. No black powder or caps can go. You'll need pards to supply you at the event.

My original 42 fits into nicely, just need to purcahse two masterlocks and your set.
