Ever wonder why so many original P-53s don't have sling swivels? Was cleaning out some stuff today and found these that I dug in Petersburg.

From the picture, it looks like the swivels were taken off, instead of broken off. Perhaps since there were so few slings available the soldiers took off what they felt was unnecessary extra? Maybe others will be able to shed some more light on the specifics. Either way, thanks for sharing the pictures!
