Hello, I had these in my photo stash and had to share-- I did not keep where they came from and use them for research only-- so dont copy any of them, they do not belong to me! If you own one of these please let me know if you want it deleted--
This is a collection of original Civil War photos that dont follow the accepted standards of authenticity, so they should know better. My favorite is the guy in the sombrero [TRANS-MISSISSIPPI?] and the soldier with the two Confederate Flags in his hat! He would be the first one shot in a charge!!! The rest speak for themselves!!!

If you actually own these photos, I for one would be interested in purchasing the goat rider photo.

          Tom,

If it had been anyone other than you I would have written these off as modern folks. Interesting find.

I agree. Are some of these included as a joke? Others do look like war-time ones, so they don't all seem to be presented just to see who gets fooled.

These are great. Thanks for sharing. I would also agree some are post war but all are still great photos.

Okay, maybe I see now how the OP is supposed to be read. "This is a collection of original Civil War photos...." refers to the photos only above the text. "The rest speak for themselves!!!" refers to the photos only below the text. If so, that makes more sense than claiming they're all original to the Civil War period.

The ones above the text do look wartime, though a couple look like theatrical publicity photos (the boy with the shoe-shine box and the very tall man).

Shoe-shine box is Charles Parsloe, a comic actor who got his start in 1850, hanging out at the theater with his father. He suffered a stroke in 1894.

The first one at the bottom, the gentleman with the fine, large mustache, appears to be a fireman by his insignia / uniform. Unless my eyes fail me, a fire captain, specifically. Am I seeing that right?
