  • Lane Linnenkohl - teamstear at Shiloh - critically injured in farm accident

    Folks,

I wanted to let you know that Lane Linnenkohl, who was the teamster for the WIG at the Shiloh event, was severely injured last week in a farming accident at his farm in Illinois. I've pasted in some details of the incident below. Lane has been around the living history world for quite some time for professionally and as a hobby, and is a great guy loved by many. Please lift him up in your prayers. He has came through surgery and had to have a plate and some netting put into his skull because of massive head injuries, so this will be a long recovery. I will add more details as they become available from friends close to him.

HUNTLEY – A Huntley man was seriously injured Tuesday after being trampled by cows, according to authorities.

Lane Linnenkohl is listed in fair condition this morning at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, according to a hospital spokesman.

The 38-year-old was taken to the hospital with severe head trauma at around 6 p.m. after being found unresponsive in a barn on the 13500 block of Adamson Road, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. He was attempting to feed the cows.

Linnenkohl was working at the dairy trying to move several cows from one area to another when the animals were startled and trampled him, police said.

Members of the Huntley Fire Protection District transported him to the hospital.

Investigators are unsure exactly what happened, as there were no witnesses to the incident, according to the fire department

    Just got this via Facebook...
Great news! Lane is out of ICU and in a regular room. He's had all his tubes removed and is walking with assistance, conversing like normal and eating solid food. We are all amazed!

Donations to aid in defraying Lane's expenses may be made through the 18th century charitable organization, The Purefinder Fund.

This is a tax deductible charitable organization. Use the donate button and the 'in honor of' option with Lane's name. I spoke with Parson John this morning and he is in contact with family members to address specific needs, both monetary and in farm labor. The whole amount of any gift will go to Lane's benefit.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes. I was alerted to this thread by my friend Cameron Stinnett and thought you all my appreciate an update. To correct the piece from the newspaper article above, I was moving some cows while milking at my cousin's dairy farm, but we're pretty sure that one of the bulls snuck up on me and blindsided me. No witnesses and I have no recollection of the event. I was found in the cow yard as opposed to the barn.

My progress towards recovery has been wonderful and all of the doctors and therapists have been very happy. I was released from the therapy unit at Lutheran Memorial Hospital on Tuesday where I was undergoing physical, occupational and speech therapy. I am home now. I will be having to continue my therapies on an out patient basis until recovery is complete. Until then no work or driving. But my recovery to this point has been so good no one has any doubt that I will recover fully.

I very much appreciate all of the support.
