On Saturday, Dec. 15, the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History will host Civil War author Joe Walker as he discusses his new book on the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry, Arkansas, which took place during the Camden Expedition / Red River Campaign, on April 29 - 30, 1864. Walker's book is the first serious study on this battle, and although it's not a scholarly publication, it's full of great information. Walker will give about an hour long presentation and lecture on the battle, followed by a book signing for those who would like to pick up a copy of his book. Walker has also agreed to donate 1/2 of the money raised by the selling of his book on the 15th to the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, which just happens to be the Tower Building of the orginal 1840 U.S. arsenal, scene of the famous "Arsenal Crisis" in January and February of 1861. This event starts at 1:00 p.m. and is free to the public.
