  • bought 1853 Enfield Tower musket for $300.

I found an advertisment in a local paper for the sale of several "old and new" guns. I called the gentleman who had the guns and was told he had several black powder guns that he wanted to sell for his aunt because his uncle had died and there was no interest in the firearms collection. I was also told that one of the guns was a 1853, 3 band Enfield which he wanted $ 300. Since I was the first to contact him I would be able to buy the musket. The musket was purchased 20 years ago from an estate for $800.
The musket is complete and in very good condition, with all steel darkened due to age.
    Will post pictures soon,

Is this the ACW relic equivalent to a "Barn Find" classic car?

Well the old saying,"if it looks to be too good to be true, it's probably is." There's a reason why that saying has stood the test of time. The pictures looked much better than in person. It was a Enfield sold to India. It also was very much beat up, even though all the original parts were there. All markings were stamped in Indian. It also was a 3rd model Enfield :( Someone else bought it for $500. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It would have been perfect for a 32nd Punjabi Infantry Impression.;)
