Dog River?

I don’t know much and there are a lot of folks that think I don’t even deserve credit for that. This question stems from my professed ignorance.

Is there really such a place as the Dog River Arsenal or is it the product of ebay and relic and artifact dealers who use it as a platform for any unmarked sword they have and want to sell as Confederate?

Please enlighten me.

December 17, 1861 Lt. R.S. Jackson of 20th Ala Vol. wrote his sister a letter from "Dog River factory, Camp Good, Dec. 17, 1861". In this letter he states that his sword is "being made up in town". No such location has ever been discovered but where ever it was, they made swords and the letter is proof it existed.

This information can be found in "A Photographic Supplement of Confederate Swords" by William Albaugh III. The term "Dog River" has since been applied to swords that show signs of being manfactured in the Confederacy but can't be identified as to location. Just like the Dog River, they exist but location is unknown.
