I have a really good book on the charge of the Light Brigade. I'll try to remember to get the author's name and publishing data for you tomorrow. The book's title is "The Charge." It gives a good overview of the British participation in the Crimean War and has beaucoup pictures.David Culberson

Good place to start online...http://www.national-army-museum.ac.uk
Somewhat helpful website but they have a remarkable support staff that will address just about any question you ask in about 36 hours. They photocopied manuscripts, ledgers and books and airmailed them as part of thier reference system. (Free too.)
...or if you prefer in Southern-public-school German...all said very phonetically and with a nasal twang...
...yall...Last edited by Vuhginyuh; 03-22-2004, 05:29 PM.B. G. If you know the particular British Regiments you're interested in, check Google, because a number of regiments have museums dedicated to them, and are on-line. Here's the Crimean War page (with uniform plates) for the Coldstream Guards:
and on the French side, start with the Musee de L'Armee

I am not trying to look at any specific regiment, rather I am trying to get a feel of what the common equipment that was being used by France and England just before the Civil War.
