Unfortunately after the BGA Gettysburg I forgot to get my other S&S IIIa McComb shelter-half from my mess mate before dropping him off. Despite the warning to let it air dry from the rain Saturday night, he apparently let it mildew because when I got it back he had bleached it, hemp loops and everything. I thought about tea dying it to get some color back in it, any other suggestions?

 Re: Bleached shelter half

 Hallo!

You can ever so slightly tea tint a little color back into it to try to kill the artificial snow white bleached effect look. IMHO, you NOT want tan or brownish color as it is not "natural."

Tinting with (diluted) dye washes or tea can be tricky. Presoak the shelter half first, and be sure to swish it around as well as sink it so that air bubbles do not rise and lift portions of the fabric above the surface of the dye bath. You run the risk of ruining it with a splotchy (camouflaged) look or areas of darker and light.
