    Is our hobby in danger by PC police?

    Do you think your hobby is in danger of disappearing? With the tragedy in Charleston, the political correctness police are using it to remove the battle flag from state property. Not to be out done, some political groups are asking for everything from renaming military bases, removing Confederate monuments and (my personal favorite) digging up Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. Now I know a lot of this is over reaching by groups hoping to make the most media noise by riding the coat tails of a tragedy. ( as disgusting as it sounds). Eventually, all the noise will calm down, but what damage will be done in the he meantime? Even the national park service is banning certain Confederate memorabilia. States are banning the battle flag on government property. Is displaying Confederate flags on park service property far behind? (Or even confederates in uniform?)

    The Seminary Ridge Museum at Gettysburg is not allowing units to bring a
    Confederate flag to events. I will boycott all events at this place.

      Danny, There is an all out Full Assault on "Southern Heritage" sad part to all of this is when and where does it stop? the scary question is whats next Stone Mountain here in Georgia? What about the name's of all 11 Confederate States that were involved in that great war for southern independence, what will be the "replacement" name for Georgia? With everything going on it wouldn't surprise me if the NPS and State Park's limit or stop everything from a simple LH to a Reenactment or National Event on the property so they can say they are Politically correct.

        The National Park Service Mission:

        The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world.

        A gift shop that sells small Confederate flags is not part of the mission. The superintendent of parks has said that it will continue to be used and flown in living histories at the parks. Will this change in the future? Maybe, I don't know, but it shouldn't keep anyone participating in a living history at a national park from educating the public on the lives of Union, Confederate, and civilians who participated in the events at the park.

        Just my two cents.

          In my opinion, this is all about an Administration that has failed miserably in both it's domestic and foreign policies, with ratings plummeting. An election is coming up, so the Democratic party needs the minority vote behind them if they stand any chance of winning. Depending upon the white vote alone they will not win; however, the Hispanic and Black vote together, or the Black vote with enough White votes, can swing it in their direction. What better way than to attack the Confederacy and it's symbols. This is the same thing that occurred right before the last election when the public employee labor unions were under attack as "enemies of the people". Just my thoughts...
