Fade and Wear

Anyone have suggestions to fade a new jacket? I have used extra washing and sun dried to no results. Also. try to fade a cloth label. Thanks

5 days in the field at Banks Grand Retreat will help.
Just wear it, because you don't want to have fake wear and tear. Let it wear out naturally- yor wallet will thank you in the long run.

Amen! This question comes up frequently. Soldiers were issued NEW gear and before they wore it out in the field it looked NEW. The hobby is expensive enough without pre-aging your gear. Most of us can look at a piece of gear and remember the campfire that caused that burn mark, or the meal that made that stain. ;)

It is good for nostalgia remembering various burns, stains etc as Mr Wickett said. New uniforms and equipment being issued, doesn't necessarily mean new to the army. I often use the example of when we switched to digital uniforms, the most junior Marines had the faded utilities.
If you are dead set on artificially fading your uniform, wear it outside when doing yard work, or stuff like that. It's still artificially fading but at least it's similar to working parties/normal usage.
That being said, dirty isn't salty, and from first hand experience, in the field you take care of your uniform especially if you have one that fits.

What is this "washing" you speak of?

As others have said, just wear it! Outside chores are a good way to give it some character as wear is wear.

Trying to fade a cloth label gives me pause. Why does it have a cloth label. This doesn't speak well for an item constructed of authentic materials and methods. If your new jacket isn't fading are you sure it isn't made of a non-authentic material?
