  • Hottin Or Beewax??

I would like to know what canteen lining was more often used in the war? Hot tin or bees wax. :confused_

Not to be a smart aleck, but the forum search engine reveals:

3 hits for beeswax + canteen
    4 hits for bees wax
    14 for beeswax
    114 hits for canteen

Unfortunately, I am just too lazy and feeble to look up "brewer's pitch" tonight, but could you provide the documentation which led to the question about the use of both "hot tin" and "beeswax" as civil war era canteen liners?

    Thanks.
