  • Walk-ons?

I'm new to reenacting, as I understand it ,reenactors can go to certain events without a unit, but then what? What do I do once I check in? Do I get absorbed into the most appropriate unit for my impression? Should I go to the Captain? Sargent? Who would I talk to? Who does the safety check? I'm just curious, I really wanna do the best job I can, but I've put this off too long, and I want to go to as many battles as I can this year and learn as much as I can as well. Would appreciate any guidance, God bless!

If you aren't with a unit, find the event host. They are responsible for registration, safety checks, and so on. Even if you are with a unit, you still have to find the event host. If it is an NPS event, the rangers will have registration forms and a daily safety briefing.
