  • Project for Jeans - Hive mind help!

OK, looking for some ideas from the AC hive mind!

I have a great piece of jeans from Wambaugh & White and I'm not sure what to do with it. The pic attached shows the jean... it is a very "butternutty" color in the awesome fine, tight weave of their premium jean. Brown/tan warp threads. I have enough for a jacket and trousers, maybe for a SB frock and trousers.

My problem: CS enlisted... I have exactly ONE jacket, an RD2 from BG kersey.

    My question:
What route to take with this jean for a CS enlisted impression?
Anyone know of original garments using a jean that approximates this?

    Thanks, all!!

Maybe it's how my computer display calibrates the color, but, my mind went straight to the Purdum sack coat described here:

The Confederate depot sack coat has been overlooked by Confederate uniformologists, perhaps with good reason: few were made.  Nonetheless, the military sack coat was issued on sufficient enough...

That's actually a pretty good idea, but I've made a few of those 4-button jackets over the last 10 or so years.

That paletot in the linked article looks pretty interesting, though!

I might go the path of a nondescript roundabout, but my preference would be to replicate something known.

How about a Mississippi depot uniform?
