Unless I've gone senile I came across an explanation by Lee of why he ordered Pickett's Charge that I can't seem to find again. I recall it mentioning the artillery positions gained, the mauling of more than one Federal Corps and something to the effect that there was no promise of a better opportunity down the road. Unless I dreamed this surely someone else has seen it. I tried to search thru GOOGLE but just see a bunch of modern day opinions. Thanks
