Just a quick question on the ACW issue poncho; I know that several threads have debated the frequency of the issuing of ponchos/gum blankets to federal troops, during the war. My question is a little different. Does anyone know how long the ACW-era type poncho continued to be issued before being replaced by a substantially different model of poncho? Just wondering and none of my reference books give me much of an answer.
