if his uniform is made of leather then hypothetically his accoutrements should be made of wool :sarcastic . guy looks like he used one of the patterns from (dare I say ) wal-mart :confused_ .

No, after looking through his listings I am quite convinced that he went to his local thrift store and purchased all the blue and gray wool jackets thay had and added trim and buttons to them. He didn't use no patterns, making new stuff would be way too much work. Even the straps on his kepis look like ald children's belts.

(Saddly, much of my early reenacting kit was likewise obtained at Value Village when I was but a poor college student. I took more care in remaking my stuff though. :sarcastic )

I suspect it makes us feel a little better about ourselves and reminds us why so much of the hard work, research, money, and effort put forth is worth it.

It is important for pilgrims to look back every once in a while and remind themselves why they started on this journey.

I'm personally amazed that someone would put that much time and effort into trying to turn a bargain found at the local Goodwill store into a business of selling reproduction CW gear. Also, I've seen some pretty bad farbs in the past few years, but this guy makes them all look good.

              Comrades,
You know, the more I think about it, (and it's a wicked thing to be so attracted to such perversness of history, sort of like staring transfixed at a train wreck), the more I believe that what this fellow did was to buy up the costume trunk of one of those Carnival "old timey" photography shops where you can get dressed up as Uncle Beauregard and have an "aged' polaroid taken of you and your friends. Maybe he was even the photographer. Who knows...
What I DO know is that there ought to be a special place in hell for purveyors of such things. And a right hand seat for those who buy them.......

All this stuff is really bad, like Hollywood meets Halloween at bargain weekend, but I don't think I would consign anyone to Hell for it.

I got a lot of comedic relief from this. Thank you for posting it, Tod!

                      So, thats where it went!

I always wondered what becomes of all those fine costumes from TV shows like F-Troop and Doctor Quinn: Medicine Babe.

I wonder if this fellow might have stuff from Rev War shows, like Dan'l Boone?

It's a dangerous thing to be drinking coffee while perusing these eBay pages!

I almost choked and ended up spraying coffee all over my computer screen... I couldn't keep the laughter in any longer!!!

If something happens to my computer and if coffee drips into my keyboard (as I'm typing) I'll send this guy a bill for a new one. That'll be an eBay first!!!

I am glad you all got some enjoyment out of this....

When I first saw this I nearly choked on my beer !
I wonder if a small part of the pleasure is knowing some of us have owned, or maybe still have hidden away somewhere, something ALMOST as funny....
NOT ME OF COURSE ! Bob Swartz keep your mouth shut !!! :tounge_sm

I HAVE gotten some decent deals on EBAY, but sometimes it takes A LOT of sifting.
