  • Home for Christmas

I'm getting ready to do a living history for Christmas. Is an officer required to be in uniform while at home for Christmas? Or is it personal choice?

    Thanks

    Re: Home for Christmas

From what I have seen in the regulations the army didn’t care what the officers or enlisted men wore when on leave of absence/ furlough as long as they did not take government issued weapons or the accoutrements that went with the weapon. The length of time spent at home also should be considered. Any way reading the 1861 Army Regulations will help, since I may have missed something. But It looks like civilian or military clothes can be used. have a merry Christmas.
