Hello All,
There has been something bothering me for some time now and I never really got around to posting about it. It concerns what I have been hearing and what I myself have at times experienced, not only on this forum, but on other sites as well, regarding private buying and selling. I have experienced, and heard others talking about how they made a private deal with someone (note: I am not referring to vendors and business owners, only private transactions) and sent out the money promptly only to get their order about two or three weeks after they had sent out payment. Many who sell items, upon receiving payment, seem to have a very lackadaisical attitude about sending the object they are selling out to the buyer. Yes, I realize that we all have to live our lives and we have work to do, but we dont work 24/7. How much time does it take to put something in a box and address it while we are waiting for payment? I think that we need to have the common courtesy to have the goods that have been purchased ready to ship that way when payment arrives we can put it in the mail the next day, especially when we SAY that we will ship them on a specific date. People seem to think that once they get their money they can take their sweet time because they now have what they wanted. A pard of mine made a purchase, sent his money out the day of the purchase, and was told a few days later by the seller that he had received payment and would be shipping the item out the next day. Well two weeks went by and still no package. My pard sent the seller a message inquiring about the package. The seller responded that he hadn't gotten around to packaging it up yet, but would do so that day. How incredibly inconsiderate this is! I know this is an extreme case, two weeks is a long time, but still it happens. As reenactors we know that we have to be patient for goods, but that is usually from vendors and the like, not private individuals. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, and it seems to be increasing. I am not accusing any of you in particular, I would just like get this off my chest and remind all of you to please have the common courtesy to ship things out quickly once receiving payment and to keep your word if you say you will ship by a certain date. Thanks for your time.
