I came across this hat on one of the websites I have bookmarked and I was floored. I wanted to share this because they don't get much better than this. Hope the picture works.
Now that is a chapeau! Note the variegated gold wire border on the 5th Corps Badge - wonder if it is an aging thing or it was made that way? Thanks Ken!

Comrade,
My Masonic Lodge has an image of one of our members, Lt. Higgins, of the 3rd Maine, in uniform and holding a nearly identical hat. It has a 3rd Corps diamond on the side, and is also rather high-crowned. I'll see if the powers-that-be will let me scan it and post the image here if succesful.
Respects,

Respects,
One interesting note about this beautiful hat is the fact that it will fold up. There is another picture showing it in t ;) he folded position. There are two other amazing hats that I also want to post.
