  • Kudos to Tim Bender!

    Comrades,

There have been numerous rave reviews on this forum of Tim Bender's impeccable quality of work, and his outstanding customer service...But this time he outdid himself, and I feel compelled to let you know about it.

A week and a half ago my wife threw me a surprise birthday party, at which I received as a gift from Comrades Doug Cooper and Eric Fair one of Tim's "Purves" tricorn hats. (Yeah...I know...Doug and Eric are two GREAT friends! Everybody should be so lucky as to have friends like that :D )
Anyway, the Purves was a work of art...But unfortunately it was just a bit too small for my oversized noggin. I phoned Tim the next morning, and his reply was "No problem!" He offered to replace the hat with an entirely new one made exactly to my size, at no charge. Here's the incredible part: I mentioned that I have an event this weekend, and he said he'd have me a new hat in plenty of time to wear it. I gave him my head size over the phone, and, sure enough, the new Purves hat arrived via USPS Priority Mail yesterday, several days before my event. It fits so well that Tim might just as well have measured my head himself. What makes this especially meaningful to me is that this is my last event prior to departing for duty in Guam for the next two years.

Comments similar to this have been stated on this forum several times, but I'll say it again: When you need a quality hat, look no further than Tim Bender. His authenticity is unbeatable...And so is his customer service.

    Chad,

Tim is indeed a craftsman and a gentleman in the finest sense of the words. The diligence with which he serves continues to show his honorable character.

Knowing Tim, I'm sure he also appreciates those same character qualities in you. Thank you for your willingness to serve, and my prayers will accompany you as you leave to guard our freedom.

    With deep appreciation,

I am inclined to agree as well. I too received one of his fine hats a few days ago, and was completely blown away by the quality. It arrived quicker than anything, and exceeded my wildest expectations. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a downright beautiful hat.

        Re: Kudos to Tim Bender!

        Comrades,

A couple of years ago I purchased an Army hat from Tim, and I was amazed at not only his product, but his service and manners. He included a short note with the hat thanking me for my business. The hat was (and still is) everything I hoped it would be, and more. It was just a tad larger than I needed, and Tim offered to replace it with a smaller size. I thought about that, but in the end, decided to do a period de-sizing. I took a repro issue of Harper's magazine, took out a couple of pages, and floded them up and put them between the hat band and the hat. Now I have a hat that fits just bully, and some reading material if I get bored.......

          All--

Tim's talents are not restricted to ACW products. He fashioned two hats for me recently-- one an "Arabia" adaptation for antebellum wear; the other a circa 1830 gray top hat. Both exhibited outstanding workmanship, and his delivery and care was everything he promised and more.

BTW... I have worn the first hat in the rain a few times. The hat has helt up very will, with only the slightest "sagging" of the cown near the top of the hat--just as I have seen in originals!

I have been thoroughly satisfied with his work, and hope to buy from him again!

          Regards,

          Bob.

To add to everyones comments..I got my Bender hat last year and I have to say that the man has patience. I felt like I tried on hundreds of hats before I found the right one. Tim was very courtious and patient during my "process". He sized it for me on the spot and told me if I ever had a problem with it that he would fix it. It is not very often you find a vendor or person for that matter that is willing to go the extra distance for a customer. I have sent him several people and they have all been satisfied with his work.

I ordered a low crown bowler from Mr. Bender in April. Over the phone he said the hat should take about 2 weeks to make. However, two days later he e-mailed me and said that the hat was shipped and would be there in a few days. I recieved the hat two days later. The hat has served me well so far and it held up in the rain very well. The hat is a work of art and fits great! He will definetely get my next order for a hat.
